The Problem

On August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the sun will be seen across America. This rare event has generated a great deal of excitement, and could certainly be the central focus of a great short story! Your students must decide on the exact details of the short story that centers around the solar eclipse (plot, characters, setting, conflict) and write the first draft.

What would make a great eclipse story?

Students will review the details of the 2017 Solar Eclipse and write a short story using the event as the central focus of the plot.
